Crawley Borough Council’s continued support for Love Local Jobs’ Dare to Dream programme has helped 200 students from two more schools.
Dare to Dream is an inspirational programme created by the LoveLocalJobs Foundation, a community interest company (CIC), which aims to support the self-awareness, resilience, employability skills and wellbeing of young people..
The programme aims to motivate young people and give them vital life skills to prepare them for their future careers.
Since September, the programme has helped 200 students at Hazelwick School and Thomas Bennett Community College gain workplace experiences and the skills and confidence to fulfil their potential.
The Dare to Dream talk that I was fortunate enough to see was inspiring, it is the kind of talk that I wish I had had when I was at school. Jack, the speaker, was talking about real topics that have a real impact on the lives of our students. Both myself and the year 10 students are lucky to have been a part of this.

Last term Dare to Dream helped more than 160 students at The Gatwick School and Oriel High. Plans are also being made to take the programme into Holy Trinity School later this term.
The programme lead is radio celebrity, Jack ‘the Lad’ Hayes, who is using his skills to engage with youth audiences and tell his own story.
The whole team at Dare to Dream would like to say a huge thank you to Crawley Borough Council for their continued support. Dare to Dream has had such a positive impact on so many students in schools across Crawley thanks to your support. I have had many students personally tell me how their confidence in themselves and their futures has increased greatly. From everyone involved in the programme thank you from the very bottom of our hearts.

I’m delighted that we are continuing to support Dare to Dream, particularly in the current economic climate. Giving Crawley residents more skills to be able to benefit from local employment opportunities is vital as we repair the economic damage of the pandemic.

The council has previously taken part in other LoveLocalJobs initiatives, including Be the Change for several years, as part of its long-term commitment to development the skills and employment prospects of young people in Crawley.
