Bridgefield House, a development of high-quality, affordable homes for local people, has its first tenants.

Located in the centre of Crawley, residents have easy access to all the shops, restaurants, leisure facilities and great transport links the town centre boasts.

The building contains 67 affordable rent flats and 31 shared ownership flats. Most tenants moved in over the past few months, with 28 of the shared ownership flats already purchased or reserved, with interest in the remaining three.

Each flat has access to a District Heat Network, that will provide the heating and hot water for the flats from an onsite energy centre.

Security and safety of residents is important; the block meets Secure by Design standards including a video door entry system, fob access to all floors and CCTV in communal areas. Flats are also fitted with sprinklers.

For many of the residents it is their first home, giving them the opportunity to get on to the property ladder and become more independent.

It’s great, the flat is light and airy and I just like having the space to move around. My daughter loves having her own room to play in. She also loves watching the nee naws (police cars) going down the road. Even though it’s on the main road, the flat is really quiet

It’s great, I’ve got a lovely flat and I’m enjoying my independence as well as owning my own place

The flat is wonderful and lovely, compared to the old house I was in there is so much space, it’s like heaven

We recognise how difficult it can be for young people to save money, gain independence and move into a property of their own, so Bridgefield House provides a major boost at the same time as being environmentally friendly and keeping carbon emissions low
