Port Health fees and charges
The port health and food safety charges are reviewed annually and increases are implemented from 1 April each financial year.
Products of animal origin
Common Health Entry Documents (CHED-P) are required.
Consignments of products of animal origin that are transhipping, but do not leave within 72 hours, will be subject to documentary checks.
Products of animal origin from New Zealand
Harmonized charges for products of animal origin from New Zealand (in accordance with DEFRA OVS note 2019/08)
The New Zealand equivalence agreement is for all fresh meat, meat products, fishery products, poultry meat, wild game meat, rabbit meat, farmed game meat, by products and feed of animal origin from New Zealand with a 22.5 per cent reduction in accordance with Annex VIII of Decision (EU) 2015/1084). Please note that this doesn’t apply to New Zealand transiting products.

Out of hours charge
Where a regular out of hours service is required, prior agreement will be required. The minimum out of hours charge per agent is divided equally over the number of consignments. After three hours, an additional charge per hour will be incurred.

Where Common Health Entry Documents (CHED-D) are required e.g. Retained Regulation (EC) No 2019.1793 (as amended), etc.
Laboratory and courier costs
Sampling charges
Sampling takes place at the Kent Scientific Services laboratory. This is closed on Sundays. For samples that are taken at the weekend, they will be collected by the courier at 3pm on a Sunday and analysed on a Monday.

Microbiological sampling
Microbiological sampling takes place at FWE Porton Down, UKHSA. The laboratory is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. For samples that are taken at the weekend, they will be collected by the courier on Monday. Please note there is a five-day turnaround on microbiological samples.
Other analyses
For other analyses, the appointed public examiner and public analyst laboratories will be contacted for a price according to the nature of the testing required.
Charges arising from additional official controls (in accordance Retained EU Regulation 625/2017).
Activities that exceed normal control activities include the taking and analysis of samples as well as other controls that are required to check the extent of a problem, to verify whether corrective action has been taken, or to detect and/or substantiate non-compliance.
Destruction charges for non-animal origin products include products not covered by a CHED-D but where official controls have been carried out.
Where goods are detained at an External Temporary Storage Facility (ETSF), they may be destroyed there at the importer’s expense, under the supervision of the relevant local authority.
Voluntarily surrendered goods
CHED-Ds which are selected for physical examination, but are voluntarily surrendered for destruction at Gatwick without being sampled, will be charged at £62.30 plus £0.98 per kilogram for destruction. The minimum destruction fee is £120.17.
Organic products
Fee is for organics checks and the endorsement of a Certificate of Inspection. Charges are made in accordance with Article 27 of Regulation (EC) 882/2004 on official controls performed to ensure the verification of compliance with feed and food law, animal health and animal welfare rules.
