Allocation of plots

When you have reached the top of the waiting list for your chosen site, we will contact you and give details of the plots available and arrange a viewing on site with our Allotment Officer.

Once a tenancy agreement is completed you can start cultivation. We will send an invoice for payment.

Beekeeping

Bees can be kept at allotment sites, on plots or possibly in other areas. For more information, email the Allotments team for further information.

Sheds

With written permission from the council, you can erect a shed, no bigger than 6x4, on your plot.

Site security

All sites have gates that are locked with a combination padlock. You are given a combination on allocation of a plot.

Water supply

All allotment sites have standpipes where you can fill buckets and watering cans. Hosepipes are not allowed.

The supply is turned off from October to April each year to prevent frost damage to pipes and taps

Site inspections

Regular inspections are carried out at each allotment site to ensure plots are being cultivated properly.

We expect to see:

  • 25 per cent of the plot cultivated in the first year
  • 50 per cent in the second year
  • 75 per cent in the third year

If plots are not worked in line with this we will give you four weeks to improve the plot. Failure to improve will result in loss of the plot.

Email the Allotments Team to purchase weed suppressant materials.
