Tilgate Park

About Tilgate Park

You are reminded to follow signage and maintain social distancing in all areas of the park. Quiet areas like the woodlands are great for exploring.

Remember to bring whatever you need to keep yourselves safe for your whole visit.

Please remove all rubbish and if bins are full take it back home with you.

The Nature Centre is reopening from Monday 20 July 2020 but for the safety of our visitors, staff and animals entry is now only possible with a pre-booked ticket.

The Walled Garden Café and ice cream parlour is now open from 10am-6pm daily. The rest of the Walled Garden, including the Maze remain closed and picnics are not permitted anywhere within the Walled Garden.

The playground remains closed until further notice.

Car park fees apply as usual and payment is only accepted by card. Look out for updates and do not park in residential roads if car parks are full.

Tilgate Park has so much to offer from stunning lakes, lawns and gardens to miles of woodland and bridleways for long leisurely walks.

Green Flag award winning park also boasts Tilgate Nature Centre and excellent activities and attractions.

Dogs

Dogs are not permitted in the nature centre, Walled Garden and play areas.

Dogs must be kept on a lead whilst walking around the main lake and are not permitted to enter the water.

Tilgate Park Tree Trail

Tilgate Park’s Tree Trail picks out 30 of the best champion trees of their particular species. There are trees from China, Africa, Europe and America.

Each trail tree has been identified with its name and a number which children and adults can have fun finding.

The leaflet and activity sheet can be download below or they are also available at the nature centre shop.

Ashes scattering and memorials

The Azalea Woodland is our dedicated ashes scattering area. We can also facilitate memorial plaques for our benches or ‘Passage’ sculpture. The scattering of ashes is by permission only.
