Crawley Borough Council wants to hear your views on proposals for changes to conservation areas and locally listed buildings.

For conservation areas, Crawley Borough Council is proposing the following changes:

  • Two new conservation areas – one at Queens Square and The Broadway and one at Gossops Green Neighbourhood Centre – in recognition of the significance of these areas as examples of New Town heritage
  • Changes to the boundaries of the Brighton Road, High Street, and St Peter’s conservation areas.

In addition, the council is recommending making changes to its locally listed buildings, as part of an updated Local Heritage List:

  • Inclusion of around 60 additional buildings
  • Removal of two buildings currently on the list: 37 High Street, Northgate and 41-43 High Street, Northgate.

The changes will affect the way in which proposals for development relating to some areas or buildings are considered as part of the planning process.

Consultations are an important way for you to have your say on what happens around the town.

This is your chance to share your opinion on changes you would like to see to our heritage assets. So don’t miss out!

Cllr Peter Smith

Cabinet member for Planning and Economic Development

Crawley Borough Council

The six-week long consultation begins on Friday 5 February. To view the proposals and supporting evidence, and to give us your views, visit our consultation page.
