Tomorrow (Saturday 15 August) is the 75th anniversary of VJ Day and Crawley Borough Council is inviting you to commemorate this special day online.

15 August 1945 was VJ Day, marking both the surrender of Japan and the end of the Second World War. This day was and still is a very important day for many as it marked the day where peace was found after six years of war.

The virtual event will take place on the council’s Facebook page from 6am on Saturday. Use the hashtag #NeverForgotten to get involved.

Events, images, lots of commemorative content from the Royal British Legion and a video from the Mayor of Crawley, Councillor Francis Guidera will mark this anniversary and show how we can remember our armed forces veterans.

VJ Day offers us the chance to thank our World War II veterans and remember the sacrifices they made for us all those years ago.
