The festive season has arrived and, despite a year of uncertainty, Crawley Borough Council and The Hawth have lots of safe ways to have fun and get in the spirit of Christmas.
Although coronavirus restrictions mean that we can’t organise our usual festive fun, there are still some events which can go ahead. Take a look below for the exciting events happening this December in Tilgate Park, the town centre and at The Hawth.
Visit the lit up Christmas tree in Tilgate Park
Free reindeer trail at Tilgate Park starting on Saturday 5 December
Santa flew over Tilgate Park, with all of his reindeer about to embark, on a trip to wrap presents for all girls and boys, when he lost a whole sack of gifts and toys!
Come to Tilgate Park for a fun, free reindeer trail around the park! Email the Tilgate team your completed activity sheet for a chance to win a family ticket to Tilgate Nature Centre. For more information, visit our Tilgate Park pages.
Tilgate Nature Centre’s festive trail
The Nature Centre team has created a festive trail for the whole family. Admire the beautiful Christmas trees, visit the reindeer, see if you can spot Santa’s sleigh and visit the zoo animals all at once! Get into the Christmas spirit and book your tickets for the Nature Centre, where you can do the self-led trail.
Tickets are available to book seven days ahead of time. The trail is included as part of a regular entry ticket. Please note that sadly Santa couldn't come this year but there is still plenty to see and do!
Christmas entertainment in Queens Square, 12-13 December
Enjoy some free festive entertainment on a giant screen in the town centre with Santa’s stories, carol singing and some Christmas magic.
Crawley Festive Feast in Queens Square and Queensway, 15-23 December
The continental street market makes a welcome return with a festive offering. The food and craft stalls will be selling an exciting selection of gifts and goodies for Christmas.
Dame Dolly Saves Panto at The Hawth, 18 December to 3 January
Will there be a panto this year? Oh yes there will! Don’t miss this fun-sized festive treat for the whole family starring our regular panto stars, Michael J Batchelor and Richard Franks.
ZOOM! at The Hawth, 19-20 December
A new play for children aged 3-8 years with music, songs and puppetry.
A Christmas Carol at The Hawth, 23-31 December
This Christmas, audiences are invited to celebrate the festive season as This is my Theatre brings Charles Dickens' classic tale A Christmas Carol to life in a stunning adaptation. Traditional carols and live music throughout will definitely get all of the family in the mood for Christmas. For more information, visit the Hawth's website.
After a strange and uncertain year, it is important for everyone to have some fun in a safe way. These events will be a perfect opportunity for the family to get into the festive spirit together.
