Residents from across Crawley came together on Saturday (12 September) to celebrate the town's rich diversity at UNITY: Crawley Together in Memorial Gardens.

The free community event welcomed people from a wide range of cultures, faiths and backgrounds for a morning of entertainment, performances and inspiring speeches, highlighting the values of inclusion, respect and community that make Crawley such a special place to live.

What defines Crawley is the way we come together. It is the respect we show one another. The friendships we build across communities. The kindness we demonstrate in difficult times and the shared belief that everyone should feel welcome, valued and included. That is why events like UNITY: Crawley Together are so important.

Councillor Marion Ayling

The Mayor of Crawley

Visitors enjoyed live music performances from local artists Victoria Boltwood and Yesha, a vibrant dance display from Niruththiyalayam School of Dance, and readings from members of Crawley Writers Circle. Community and faith leaders also shared reflections on the importance of unity and understanding, alongside contributions from local political representatives.

The event provided an opportunity for residents to connect with one another, celebrate the town's cultural heritage and recognise the strength that diversity brings to the community.

UNITY: Crawley Together was a wonderful celebration of everything that makes our town unique. It was fantastic to see residents from all backgrounds coming together to enjoy the performances, share experiences and celebrate our diverse and welcoming community. Thank you to everyone who attended, performed and helped make the event such a success.
