Crawley Borough Council has proudly unveiled the newly restored borough crest at its new home in the Town Hall. The crest had been removed from the old town hall which is set to be demolished this year.
The crest’s origins date back to 1957, when the original coat of arms was granted to the Crawley Urban District Council by the College of Heralds. It was later redesigned in 1976 to reflect Crawley’s growth and borough status, incorporating elements of the original design with new symbols.
Conservation experts and council officers carefully removed the crest from the old Town Hall. It has been cleaned, restored, and now proudly occupies a new position on the mezzanine of the new civic building.
It was an honour to unveil the crest in its new home. Many thanks to the dedication of the team that has helped restore it back to all its glory. It now stands proudly and symbolically in the new town hall.
