About the role

In November 2019 Crawley was identified as one of 101 towns eligible to bid for up to £25m from the Towns Fund. The objective of the Fund is to drive the economic regeneration of towns to deliver long term economic and productivity growth through urban regeneration, planning and land use, skills and enterprise infrastructure and improving connectivity through developing local transport schemes that complement regional and national networks, as well as supporting the delivery of improved digital connectivity.

This role is fixed term for 18 months and presents an exciting opportunity to deliver a range of transformative projects in Crawley in accordance with the guidance and eligibility criteria provided by MHCLG.

The Towns Fund Programme Officer will provide an efficient support service, including secretarial, administrative and project assistance to the Towns Fund Programme Manager and Town Deal Board. The post holder will develop and implement effective administrative and information systems and services to support the Towns Fund Programme Manager, principal council officers and their teams to deliver the Crawley Town Investment Plan. This will include preparation and monitoring of meeting documentation, business cases and key performance information requirements to ensure that deadlines are met and programme objectives fulfilled.

You will have:

  • Excellent project management and communication skills with the ability to deliver outcomes to tight deadlines
     
  • Knowledge of economic development and growth schemes and objectives
     
  • Good understanding of economic development matters, nationally, regionally and locally including economic development and planning policies, business support initiatives, inward investment activities and regeneration programmes
     
  • Experience of working effectively with a range of stakeholders and delivering consultation and engagement events
