About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Community Facilities Team as the whole organisation embarks on the move to our newly built, state of the art Town Hall and commercial office space.
This brand-new role has been created to oversee the reception area and lead and manage a receptionist, the two of you together will be the face of the council and the first point of contact in our new building (The Create Building). The receptionist post is yet to be recruited, so you will have input into the process so you can be part of building your team.
You will provide an efficient, friendly and welcoming service that helps to promote and support the various occupiers of the building. As the first point of contact for all who attend the building you will deal with any customer enquiries, complaints, the taking in of deliveries and all general reception duties including administrative duties, access control, booking systems. Problem solving, decision making and a working knowledge of Microsoft packages or equivalent are essential.
You will organise the shift rota for the receptionist operating 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, ensuring the desk is covered during any periods of sickness or annual leave.
We are looking for someone with proven previous experience in a busy high end reception role with exceptional customer service skills. Good oral, listening and written skills are essential for this role alongside a proven working knowledge of health and safety at work. You will be first aid trained or willing to undertake and pass the qualification within your first 3 months in the role. You will also become an Evacuation Co-ordinator, where you will co-ordinate and assist with the safe evacuation of the building and in case of emergency and you will liaise with the Emergency Services where required.

Your hours of work will be 37 hours per week. These will normally be daytime office hours however the reception desk is operating 7am to 7pm and you will be required to support the duties of the post covering annual leave and sickness.
First Aid qualified or willing to undergo and pass training within three months of your start date.
