About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Built Environment Team as an Assistant Project Manager and to make a real difference to Crawley, its people, and local businesses. 75 years on from its establishment as a new town, Crawley is now a regional powerhouse with more than 114,000 residents, a £6bn economy and Gatwick Airport.
The post holder will be responsible for assisting the delivery of a wide range of capital and revenue projects, including residential new build, civil, flood, non-residential cyclical maintenance, and community-based projects such as play areas. There is already an established team delivering a variety of projects across the borough, the post holder will need to compliment this team and share the same enthusiasm for improving the Crawley area.
This post is an opportunity for someone with an interest in the construction industry and project management, and wanting to develop or progress their career.
The post holder will need to be organised and committed to quality, have the ability to use their own initiative, have some construction knowledge and able to communicate to a variety of audiences.
With the proposed updates to Building Regulations and the council’s commitment to zero carbon, the post holder will need to be innovative and able to work within a team to achieve successful compliant project delivery.
You will work within cross council working groups and have the ambition and motivation to deliver a quality service and build relationships quickly.
A full current UK current driving licence is requirement of the role.
Able to travel between sites and to any role-related contacts that may include customers, clients, suppliers, external organisations, and other Local Authorities.
