About the role

Our Community Facilities Team manage a variety of community buildings and assets across Crawley including our town hall and associated commercial office space, community centres, sports pavilions and town centre CCTV installations.

We are looking for somebody with a background in Facilities Management and / or contract management to support our Community Facilities function. Reporting to the Community Facilities Manager, this important position has been created to bring additional facilities management capacity and experience as we enter an exciting phase with completion of a new town hall, commercial offices and a town centre district heat network all programmed for 2022.

Reporting to the Community Facilities Manager, this important post offers significant opportunity to shape change across this service area. Specifically, your role will include:

  • Developing, implementing and reviewing quality management systems which oversee the day to day duties and activities of our Facilities Officers
  • Working with the Council’s maintenance and cleaning contractors to ensure these contracted functions provide best value and are responsive to customer requirements
  • Implementing capital and planned maintenance improvement projects to ensure the Council’s facilities operate to a high standard and are responsive to changing customer demands
  • Lead client for the town centre district heat network, ensuring the Council’s operations, maintenance and billing contractor is compliant with our specified requirements
  • Developing and implementing quality compliance systems thereby ensuring required licensing, certification and compliance functions are in place
  • Lead client for CCTV and solar energy installations

This position offers the opportunity to manage a broad range of facilities, buildings and assets. Although ideally you will have facilities management, compliance or contract management experience, we are happy to consider applicants with relevant transferable skills. As important as your experience, we are looking to appoint someone who reflects our values and behaviours and can demonstrate:

  • A positive approach with a desire to develop and implement solutions
  • The ability to show initiative and work both independently and as a key member of a wider team
  • A willingness to engage positively with customers and to demonstrate consistent high standards of customer care
  • A desire to understand the wider role of the Council and to support broader corporate objectives and priorities as and when appropriate

The post will be based at Crawley’s New Town Hall although it will be expected that the post holder will visit various facilities and sites across the town as required to fulfil the duties of the post. Flexible ‘hybrid’ working is available for staff who may find this beneficial.

We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible, as we may close this advert before the stated closing date if enough applications are received.

Additional information

The working hours will be 37 hours per week. These will usually be daytime office hours however occasional evening and weekend working may be required to support the duties of the post.
