About the role
Crawley Borough Council is looking to recruit an Asset Surveyor to join their small and friendly Asset Team (Investment & Corporate Estate). Crawley, being a New Town, owns much commercial property (excludes Housing) within the residential neighbourhoods.
As an Asset Surveyor you will be responsible for managing a share of the Council’s commercial property and tenants, helping to bring in the current rent roll of £6.38m. In addition the role includes delivering corporate property requirements, and responding to a variety of property related queries from officers in the Council’s other Directorates, Members and the public.
You will be preferably RICS qualified, but this is not essential. However, it is essential that you will be able to demonstrate competent and recent hands-on commercial property management and landlord & tenant experience; a good working knowledge of all relevant and associated legislation; and competency at carrying out valuations and viability appraisals. In addition a working knowledge of the planning system would be useful.
You will possess excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, together with good IT and problem solving skills, and a positive attitude to work.
Experience of working in a commercial property environment is essential and experience of working in both the public and private sectors is desirable.
We are a small team and work supportively together to effectively manage 700 tenants and licensees. However, coupled with this team working, the ability to work self-sufficiently, appropriately managing a case load is paramount.
A full current UK driving licence will be a requirement of the role.
Essential car user allowance payable (currently under review).
Interviews will be performed virtually using MS Teams.
We offer a generous employee benefits package, with a range of discounts, benefits and wellbeing incentives to suit everyone.
Our way of working
