On 8 February 2017 the council adopted its Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). The SCI is a document for anyone who wants to have a say about planning decisions in Crawley. It explains when and how it is possible for people to interact with the planning system so that they are able to have a meaningful input into the planning decisions that affect them.
The 2017 SCI takes account of changes that have been introduced to the planning system since the last SCI was adopted in 2011. This includes the coming into force of the National Planning Policy Framework (2012) and supporting Planning Practice Guidance (2014), as well as the adoption of the Crawley Local Plan (2015) and Supplementary Planning Documents (2016). The document also provides guidance for neighbourhood forums who may be interested in finding out more about the opportunity to produce a neighbourhood plan.
The SCI was published for a six week period of public consultation from 3 November 2016 to 16 December 2016. The feedback received has fed into drafting the adopted SCI, and can be viewed in full, alongside the council’s response to comments in the accompanying consultation statement .
