Our aim is to promote play and provide for the play needs of children in Crawley. We do this by creating safe environments for children to meet, play and learn.
We have four adventure playgrounds in the borough, they are located at Cherry Lane, Creasys Drive, Millpond and Waterlea.
The playgrounds are run as open access facilities, children can come and go as they wish.
What we offer:
Open access to our adventure playgrounds after school and during the school holidays for children aged six to 18-years old. Children under six are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
During term time, free play is open Tuesday to Thursday, between 3 and 7.30pm. Waterlea is closed on Wednesdays. In the school holidays, free play is available Monday to Friday, 10.30am-4pm.
Entry to the playgrounds is free; if you want to show your appreciation for the fantastic facilities we do accept donations on site. Donations are fed back into the service.
During the school holidays we have OFSTED registered Holiday Childcare available.
Holiday childcare is available during school holidays, including half term, from Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays), between 8.30am and 5.30pm.
Our four adventure playgrounds are available to hire every Saturday and Sunday throughout the year. Ideal for birthday parties, family gatherings and school events, you can invite up to 100 guests for a two-hour party.
To book one of the adventure playgrounds, please complete the booking form and return it to your chosen playground, with full payment.
Exciting unsupervised play areas can be found across Crawley. They offer families access to an informal play area with challenging and stimulating play opportunities. Play areas cater for toddlers, school age children and young people in defined activity areas.
How we work
Children and young people can enjoy the freedom to play, making choices and maybe even take a risk or two in the safety of the playground.
We have qualified play staff on site who encourage children to get the best out of their visit. Children come from different backgrounds and have a range of abilities, needs and ages. They tell us a lot about what is going on, who is around, what they are doing, and also who is not having a good time. We plan our work around our observations and feedback from children and young people.
Please note we will not tolerate any form of aggressive or violent behaviour towards our staff.
The playgrounds are supported by local people and others. People volunteer in many ways, from donations of paint, wood and old shop fittings to helping with the tuck shop, activities, events and even washing up! We always need: pens, paper, big cardboard boxes, dressing up clothes, old blankets and duvet covers.
