There are playing fields located all around Crawley, each offering a variety of winter and summer sports. As well as football, rugby and cricket, there are facilities for Gaelic football, Australian Rules football and American football. Bowls can be played at two locations, and tennis at seven courts in the town.
Playing fields are more than just sports pitches, they also offer attractive open spaces within Crawley's neighbourhoods, for local people to enjoy.

Crawley Borough Council do not provide corner flags or net pegs, however, we do provide football nets at hire charge of £75. This is a refundable deposit and it will be returned when the nets are returned in a reasonable state. For enquiries about net hire, please contact us on the details provided above.
There are purpose built play areas for children throughout the town, and many of these are located in, or near to playing fields. They contain fixed equipment designed to be stimulating for children to play on, yet with safety in mind. Fencing around play areas keeps out dogs.
Eight of Crawley's play centres and adventure playgrounds are also located adjacent to playing fields, to maximise the fun for children by having a large open space nearby.
In addition to playing fields, there are open spaces all over Crawley to enjoy, from wooded areas to flood ponds, providing a haven for wildlife. Many of these spaces are accessible through cycle routes and bridleways, and include trim trails and marked walks. The Greenway will connect open spaces and the larger parks together, and make them even more accessible. Please view the Parks and Gardens page for more information on open spaces in Crawley.
It is our intention to make our parks and open spaces a pleasure for everyone who uses them. That is why it is an offence to allow a dog to leave a mess in most parts of Crawley. If you have your dog with you, carry a poop-scoop, and look out for the Healthguard bins. Dog fouling is both unsightly and dangerous to health, causing illnesses like Salmonella and Toxocariasis, so if you see someone not clearing up after their dog, please call 0800 5875 888.
