Salary Range: £24,295 - £33,213 depending on experience
Out of Hours Allowance: £994.71 per annum

These are exciting times at Crawley Borough Council with ambitious plans for a brand new Town Hall building, a Transformation Programme to deliver new ways of working, clear Corporate Priorities and shared Values and Behaviours creating an organisational culture.

As a Housing Options Officer, you will be working with customers to assess their housing situation, establish and communicate the Council’s duties and work with them to prevent and relieve their homelessness; achieving positive outcomes through personal housing plans. You will carry out enquiries and determine duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act Legislation and issue formal and legally compliant letters and decisions.

We are looking for a pro-active individual who is able to take an innovative approach to problem solving, is an effective negotiator and can provide a high quality of service to customers with housing problems. An ability to communicate clearly and effectively to customers, landlords, accommodation providers, partner organisations and other professionals whilst providing a high quality of service and customer care to all groups of the community is essential.

You will need to be efficient and effective in extracting relevant information from customers to produce accurate written assessments and housing plans in plain English so that customers are clear on the steps that both they and the Council will be taking and expected to take to resolve their housing situation.

Experience of working in this field and achieving positive outcomes will be an advantage. However, full training will be provided to the right candidate who can demonstrate the qualities and skills required for this role.

The role will be based out of the Town Hall in Crawley and some travel around the town will be required.
