Crawley is an amazing place to further your career in local government; small enough to have great community spirit, yet big enough to have a wealth of exciting new projects and initiatives.

Community Services Manager role brings together some of our most important customer facing teams; community development, community safety, health and wellbeing, play services, community arts, events and community grants.

We are currently developing an arts and culture strategy for the town, in conjunction with the Arts Council England, professional artists, community groups and local business; our children’s playgrounds are being transformed with significant capital funding; the Safer Crawley Partnership is being re-energised to deal with the local priorities of vulnerable individuals, street community and serious and organised crime; income from commercial events if going from strength to strength and there are real opportunities to forge ever closer links between your service areas, the rest of the Council and our external partners.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate who has substantial skills, experience and knowledge of managing a range of community services and working with partners to deliver strategic outcomes. You should also have demonstrable skills in being able to question, challenge and shape the way things are done, bringing about change with openness, passion and understanding. Excellent communication skills, customer focus and political awareness are also key success factors for anyone undertaking this role.

Essential User Car allowance is available and satisfactory clearance of Disclosure and Barring checks will be a condition of employment. This is a politically restricted post.

In return, we offer excellent working conditions, as well as an attractive pension scheme.
